WESTLAND EXHIBITION.
NELSON’S REPRESENTATION. The committee appointed to go into the matter of Nelson’s representation at the Westland Exhibition reported to the last monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce that it- anticipated that £2OO would be required for the purpose, and asked for an expression of opinion as to the best means of seen ring the necessary funds (says the Nelson “Mail”). The matter was referred back to the committee, which mot again to consider various points connected with the proposal. Eventually it was decided to reduce somewhat tiie space originally taken to about GO feet frontage by six feet depth. Messrs Kirkpatrick and Co., and Griffin and Sons will lie exhibiting at their own expense and nil! fill a part of the Nelson court, but there will still bo more than enough space to make a striking and representative display featuring Nelson. The committee intend to make a special feature of endeavouring, by means of judicious publicity, to direct visitors to or from the coast by way of Nelson, so that apart from the benefit of the exhibit to the district, Nelson will directly benefit by increased tourist traffic. Under the circumstances therefore, the committee propose to canvass locally for contributions towards the cost of setting up a solid and representative Nelson stand. This will he done during the next few days.
