ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE. BEEF PRICES IMPROVE. The usual fortnightly fixture was held at tho above yards yesterday When 97 fat sheep and 60 head of cattle were submitted to a large attendance of buyers. Competition was firm from the start of the sale, and towards the finish cattle were at least. £1 a head dearer than at the opening. Tlie quality can be classed as prime throughout, a notable feature of the day being the extra prime heifers offered. In this lespeet a very fine heifer fattened by Mr AV. 11. Karnbacli, made tlie record price so far of £l9, while the same vendor topped tlie market with a prime Hereford bullock at £2l 2s fid. Heavy ox beef made from 50s to 54s per hundred, lighter weights from 45s to 48s, prime lieifcr beef made from 48s to 52s Gd. medium quality and prime cows from 33s to 45s Gd. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.— A larger yarding than last week,, and a spirited sale throughout-. The entry was computed of principally wethers and hoggets. Prices ranged :—Best forward wethers 3-ls to 375: others from 30s; host 4. G and 8touth half bred ewes up to 43s ; medium ditto 34s to 38s; others from 24s to 30s. Hoggets (owes) up to 31s; wether hoggets 22s to 275.
