POLICEMAN BLAMED.
LONDON, July 11. Six constables gave ovideiirc at an inquest at Preston on Saturday mi Agnes Swnrbriek. 24, a single woman who drowned herself in the Lancaster anal. Her relatives said she bad told them a policeman was responsible for her condition.
The policeman protested they had had nothing to do with her. “AA e are all married men, and our lives have become unbearable,” said one of them. The coroner, Mr J. Parker, said it was in the men’s and the force’s own interest that they should have an opportunity of giving evidence. Returning a verdict of .Suicide while of Unsound Aliml, the coroner said the girl’s statement was a tissue of lies, and ho yens convinced there bad been a deliberate attempt to cover somebody else by throwing blame on the policemen.
