TENNIS.
AUSTRALIAN AND N'.Z. CARLE ASSOCIATION. XEW YORK, Aug. or. The Australian tennis team engaged in the first practice at Forest Hills since- its arrival from Boston. All the men word in good condition, and their form was good. The American Davis Cop team also engaged in practice for the finals, which will he played on the 31st of August, and Ist and old of September. American sporting circles, comment- j ing on the Australians' chances of winning the Cup. declare that Anderson inov playing the best tennis of his career, and when he is playing tip to form, he is a dangerous opponent for any man. There is a considerable opinion that the Australians are likely to repeat- their last year's performance in the doubles, since the American team has not tried doubles pairs. It is virtually certain that Tilden and Richards will not he paired, and Williams and Richards Imre never played together.
