SAFETY FOII YOl'll ESTATE. NO 4.—POWER OF THE PUiIUC TIIFSTKK. The statutory powers conferred on tiit* Public Trustee are nuich mure extensive than those possessed by a private trustee. The Puhlie Trustee is practically enabled to do all the things that an owner could do. where the value of the asset does not exceed a certain specified amount. hilo a private trustee has very often to approach the Court for its authority to take some step in connection with the administration of an estate in his care, the expense and delay are saved when the Puhlie Trustee is the administrator. Although possessed of much more liberty of action than a private trustee, the Public Trustee consults the benefit iaries at every stage of the administration. and he is largely guided by their wishes and advice. in all matters pcrtainiug to the estate in which they are interested. Moreover, being a p-üblie official, the Public Trustee is available at all times to answer for his conduct, should a beneficiary lie dissatisfied with the administration of an estate, and in addition the Office enjoys the advantage of the State guarantee. All persons placing tlieir affairs in the hands of the Public Trustee may rest assured that the statutory powers, which he is privileged to exercise, are availed of onlv when it is to the interests of their estates to do so, and as a rule with the approval of the beneficiaries concerned. For full information apply to the Public* Trustee. Wellington, or to MR T. K. SAYWELf., District Public Trustee, Grevmouth. A representative of the Office » in attendance at Hokitika on Thursdays and Fridays in each week.
