HOSPITAL BALL.

A meeting of the Hospital Pall Committee was held in the Hospital Boaid Rooms on Tuesday evening, -Mrs 0. Davidson being in the chair. The lolluwing ladies were appointed to canvass the town for donations towards the -upper and for the Hospital lund: Mesdanies Pilkington, Lawn, Dowell, !). Stevenson. Benjamin, Long and Blank, .Misses Plank and Foster. Supper arrangements will he in charge ol Mesdrtines Breeze, Morgan, Davidson, Plank and Benjamin, and Mosdame.Baird, Morris, Wet hey, Rrodie and McCaskill were appointed to supervise tile decorations, the remainder of the committee io assist where necessary. Tt was resolved to ask Mrs \\ . Wilson, Mrs Baird and Mr J. J. Breeze to undertake the task of judging the fancy co-tunics. The same rules with regard to lanev cost nines will he observed as in previou- year-. Reference was made to the Hospital Board having raised tli" price of tickets lor the hall, hut in tiew of the extra expenditure incurred m ihe additions at present being made 1,, the Hospital, it is hoped the townspeople will respond as generously as in the past. A children’s fancy dress hall will !>r held the following evening commencing in 7..'>0 p.m.. supper to he served aL- !(.15 p.m. In addition to prizes for the best tauey eoetumes, it was decided to present each child with it lucky hag. Tickets for the hall were distributed and the meeting closed with a vote of thank- to the chair. Mesdaities Bail'd and R. Stevenson have kindly donated the ladies’ prizes for the Hu-pital Hall, Mrs Bumps prr/e helm; lor the be-; dres-cd lady and Mr.- Sloven-on’- for the mo-t original costume. Prizes lor the mens costumes and ior the children’s hall are still required. Anyone willing to donate' any of these prizes i- requested to eoiilnniuieatc with tho committee.
