AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CARLE ASSOCIATION. .MEAT RETAILERS. LONDON, An", 21. A departmental committee on the disIriluition and prices of agricultural produce, of which Lord Linlithgow is chairman, states in an interim report that the meat retailors' nett profit has definitely increased compared with their pre-war profits. Their net cash earnings are not only higher, hut there is relative improvement in their financial position which has resulted from the control. Their prices have been largely, if not entirely, maintained since the control period. Referring to the imported meat, the report says the position of the Horne producer is increasingly prejudiced as the result of the improved organisation for the marketing and distribution of imported meat supplies, and the policy of the South African and Australian (iovernments in subsidising exports to this country. It, therefore, is ossmitial that every effort should be made to improve the system of marketing and the distribution of liritish meat, and to reduce costs.
