Tho Department of A^cricuituro, in order to protect American crops from the danger of the fruit fly and related posts, Ims imposed a quarantine, effective from November Ist., on all fruits and vegetables offered for import into the United States from all countries, except Canada. The quarantine excludes fresh ligs, poaches, plums, apricots and other perishable fruits, but exception is made in favour o! Victoria. South Australia and Tasmania, based upon assurances from responsible officials regarding the non existence of those fruit pests. However, a continuance of such privilege depends upon the eon tinned freedom from the fruit fly infection.
