HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. WELLINGTON, Aug 15. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 11th., from the High Commission for New Zealand, London: — MEAT. Meat supplies are well maintained from store, though continuance of the dockage strike is still preventing discharge. Available supplies of mutton and prime light-weight lamb are running short. Trade is slow and prices are unchanged except for North Island medium-weight mutton and owes. There is a good supply of chilled beef. New Zealand frozen beef is nominal. Quotations (all at per ib) are:—

The market is steady and the tendency was firmer towards the close of the week. Official quotations are:— New Zealand—(Salted), finest, 170 s to 174 s upto 176 s per ewt. (is 6Jd. to Is (JJd, is Opt per lb).; (unsalted), 176 s per ewt. (Is GJd per Ib). Other quali-ties—-Salted, ICA.s to 168 s per ewt. (Is sfd to Is Od per lb). Argentine—l46s to 100 s per ewt. (Is 3:|d to Is SRI per lb) ; exceptional, 164 s per ewt. ( Is s;pl per lb). Australian —(Salted), finest, 104 s to 100 s per ewt (Is oRt per lb); (unsalted) ; 104 s to 166 s per ewt. (Is 5/d per lb). Other qualities—Salted. 146 sto 100 s per ewt. (Is 3!d m Is sjd per lb) ; nnsalt'xl. His to 150 s per ewt. (Is 3jd to Is 4.R1 per lb). Danish— 172 s to 174 s per ewt (Is Old to Is o‘d per lb).
