A girl, aged 15, who was brought before Mr Poynlon, S.M., had for some months been holding up children at
street corners and stealing money from them. Her mother thought she was m employment as she brought home regularly fifteen shillings per week. innumerable complaints were made by parents to the police, and eventually man traps were set. Ihe accused was caught taking 7s Btd and Gs 6d Irom two children sent shopping. The Magistrate ordered that the girl lie committed to the Christchurch Receiving Home. CONSPIRACY CHARGE. AUCKLAND. Aug. 10. At the Police Court. Mohamed Ali Sunni and Theodore (Guiding were charged with conspiring to defraud John and Annie Sereeoinhe of throe hundred and five pounds. John Sereeoinhe stated in evidence that accused told him that they were t > take part in a wrestling bout at Napier on June 2nd. Sunni said that t Guiding was to win and asked witness to finance them. He said their wrestling at Hamilton was not genuine, and they only got C 25 on inside bets, (inditing was present and heard the conversation. Witness agreed on the condition that lie got fifty-fifty r.f the winnings. Witness offered £69. They wanted" more.
