The remains of an old man, Thomas Griffiths, aged 04, a gum-digger, single, who has been missing since December, was found in the scrub near the town last night. Deceased was an old settler and although a diligent search was made at the time he disappeared no trace was found till yesterday. FOUND DEAD. DAKGAVILLE, Aug. U. A married man named William Hampton ailiu, working at the public works at I’ukelmia. was found dead on the roadside yesterday. He had been riding a motor bike and it is presumed the exertion of starting this on the heavy road resulted in his death, as lie had previously sulfered from heart disease. HUMAN REMAINS FOUND. INYKRCAIIOTLL, August 10. Human remains, believed to be those of Bung Yum. a Chinaman, were found at Round Hill, near Orepuki. Bung Yum lia.s been missing for three years. He was working a claim when he disappeared. SUI’REME C< iI'KT. DUNEDIN. August 10. At the Supreme Court to-day, Harold Leslie Campbell sued Charles Cemge Wilson for damages arising out of an accident which occurred on April I fill. last. when defendant's motnr knocked plaintiff down and broke both kis legs. The jury awarded Clffi.T Ills lid as special and £.YJ as general damages. Judgment was entered accordingly. HARDWOOD SHORTAGE. WANGANUI. August 10. Advice has lean received in "Wanganui from Sydney that there is likely to be a considerable delay in the arrival of hardwood from Australia. Heavy rains have made the roads practically impassable. About oO per cent of the mills have either stopped cutting or are cutting only a small pari of then- capacity.
