Tho Westland Chamber of Commerce has issued tho following circular to the subscribers to the Hokitika Exchange : TELEPHONE CHANGES.

Tlie Chamber has been asked to go into tho matter of continuous telephone service for Hokitika. In connection with this matter, the following telephone rates are. expected to come into force on tho Ist October. Hokitika. Bureau will bo in Clause 4, for

Beyond the two miles, the rate area for the extra charges has not been definitely fixed, but it is not likely to be very material Would you please communicate with the County Office, Telephone No 10, indicating as early as passible whether vou would be disposed to subset ibo to the continuous service on the scale of charges indicated. '1 he adoption ol the service depends ou cite numboi of favourable replies received, and it would oblige if you would bo good enough to lavour with an caily reply so that some indication may be given to the Department in regard to the matter, whereupon the necessary formal steps by petition could then be taken in regard to securing service.

In connection with the foregoing, subscribers disposed to favour the continuous service should notily tho County Office at once so as to enable a decision to be reached in regard to the affirmative replies received.
