LEGISLATIVE COUNCI L. WKLLNGTON, Aug. 1. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
Sir F. D. Bell gave notice of his intention to introduce the Companies Amendment Bill. The Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill was read a second lime, after a debate. •Sir F. Bell announced that when tlie Council rose to-morrow it would not meet again until the following Wednesday.
THE HOUSE. In the House, the Savings Bank Amendment, Cook Islands Amendment, Immigration Restriction Amendment, Registration of Aliens Suspension Bill, Chattels Transfer Amendment were put through the final stages and passed.
. British Nationality and status of Aliens Bill was read a second time. Discharged Soldier Settlement Amendment Bill, to give effect to the recommendations of eleven commissions which reported on soldier settlements, was introduced by GovernorGeneral's message and was read a first time.
Samoa Amendment Bill was put through committee down to the last clause, when progress was reported. The House rose at 11.50 p.m. till 2.30 p.m.
