KNITTING BUTCHER.

LONDON. June 5. West Kensington boasts a knitting butcher who sells loth steaks and silk v " costumes. With the same hand he cleaves a meat hone and delicately builds up shimmering fabrics. He is Mr Gilliert Williamson, the chief butcher of a provision stores in Church-street, Kensington. He lives at ft, Iffley-road, Hammersmith, W. When asked yesterday how many orders ho had on hand, he said, “In meat or jumpers-'” and then he added: “Four frocks and 3 or 4 jumpers. I have now an order from ono woman for two silk dresses and a jumper. ‘T come from the Shetlamls,” he explained. “When I was 7 1 knitted a shawl and sold it for a shilling, t have never let my sisters get ahead of me. I have knitted about GOO jumpers, in silk and wool. At one time I knitted three a week, but now I knit one a week. 1 knit a frock in aliout 11 days.” Mr Williamson designs many of bis own jumpers, but he gets some ideas from fashion books. This knitting butcher, who is stout and jovial, is also an organist, playing at the Ilornton-street Chapel and tho Kensington Town Hall.
