WON BY WEST COAST. NELSON, July 28. The West Coast representative team defeated Nelson ro-day in the match fin the Sodden Shield. Hie match took place in brilliant weather, and there was a large attendance. The store was 12 to S. which indicates the respective merits of the teams, on the day's (day. Nelson iieldod practically the same team that held the Shield la-t year, Priest being the only new man. In tho first spell, .Mouatt scored for the Coast, after a si ramble near the Nelson line. For Coast, Steel was brilliant, and Goodall. at full hack, was sale. Burley and Bannister were prominent in a line pack. For Nelson. Snodgrass and Byrne were brilliant. The forwards were a level lot of triers.
The winners had a splendid reception from the crowd.
