Roberts (Auckland) beat Stewart (Dunedin) by 7.30 to 600. after a somewhat slow game. Smith (Christchurch) beat Lindsay by 750 to 694. At one stage Smith appeared likely to have a very easy win, the scores being 712 to 302 in Ids favour, but Lindsay played splendidly in tin- closing singes, and reduced bis opponent's lord to 50.
