Alfred McDonald, aged-58. a resident of Hataitai. was found in a bathroom with his throat cut. lie was dead when discove.i'd. Deceased find been suffering fiom insomnia, and had nor slept tor several nights. It is believed continued insomnia caused temporary insanity.

William Joseph Gett, an elderly Chinaman, appeared before Mr E. Page S.M.. on a charge of receiving 3301) cigarettes, value.l at £8 3s 3d. knowing the same to have been dishonestly obtained. Tore.-a Bildden deposed to stealing from her employers and selling to Gett who knew whore the girls worked and asked them to get more. Altogether a sum of 3-0 was paid tor 150 packets. Witness had lunch at Gott's shop on several occasions with Xn!a p'razer and Ethel Conrad, who lived with Gett. Gett had warned witness when Nol.l Frazer was a;rested.
