Tlte capital invested w in the motor industry in the United States was equal to the total capital cf the iron and steel industry. The United States had spent more on new roads in the last 25 years than the total capital of all kinds vested in the railroads. With tjho Improvement in brakes and none-skid tyres, the speed limit was becoming ludicrous, but an improvement and classification of roads would lead to the abolition of the speed limit. Tho British motor tyre industry, he said, was suffering from American competition, and also from competition from France atul other countries with a depreciated currency.

LLOYD GEORGE’S LAMENT. LONDON, July 24.
