FOOTBALL.

KIWI V. KOKATAHL , This game was played at Kokatahi on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a win for Kiwis by J points (a try by Kortcgnst) to nil. The game was hardly contested, hut was not of a high (■lass. Both teams had a number of excellent chances to score, hut with the one exception the opening's were lost by had handling or had passes at the critical end of the attack. Kiwi’s score came from a capital passing run. that several of the hacks took part in. and ended near the corner, shortly before half-time. The play was up and down the field, mainly hy loose forward rushes, or failures to take the ball hy the backs. On the play Kiwis deserved their win, having hy far the best of the play. With quite a number of the players recently suffering from the effects of the inihicuiz.a. the poor showing bv a number of Llie men was quite excusable. On the day Dovaucy was easily the most noticeable player on the ground. Mr A. Cutbush controlled the game in good style, ihe ground was wired oil', and this improvement was appreciated by bath spectators, players and referee, only on one occasion having the hitter to stop play to clear the lines. The game was not started till •I p.m. and as a result it was too dark to distinguish players when no side was called at 5.30 p.m.

JUNIOR GAME. The junior game Kiwis v. Excelsiors took place on Cass Square and resulted in a win for Kiwis hy G points (penalty goal kicked hv Tlaussmami and a try scored by S. Breeze) to nil. Mr W.
