LAST NIGHT’S EUCHRE AND DANCE. The opening euchre tournament at the Soldiers’ Hall was held last evening in the annexe which was comfortably heated for the purpose. About 60 players participated in the play, which seemed to be enjoyed very much. The winners on the evening's play were Mrs Keller (lady’s prize), after playing ofi with Mesdamos Rutland and Brown, and Air Harrow (gent’s prize) after playing off with Messrs Marker and Goodfellow junr. Consolation prizes were won by Miss McGee and Air AA . I,akin. The aggregate scores for the tournament are given below, and the lady’s prize was presented to Afrs Sumner, and the gent's to Air J. AfcTntyro. The ladies’ committee then served supper, after which dancing was indulged in till midnight.' Alias Pascoe /piano) and Air Ilonetti (violin) supplied the music, there being an augmented attendance for the dancing including the visiting football team which were made guests of the evening. Mr Stunner was M.C. Altogether the inaugural euchre competition was most successful. The visitors expressed great pleasure at the comfort- and convenience of the commodious hull.

junr., 25. The next aggregate euchre tournament will commence on Thursday evening next, and will he held weekly in the Soldiers’ Hall thereafter. Mrs R. Lynn has donated a very handsome pair of vases for the ladies’ aggregate prize, and it was on view last- evening and was greatly admired. A valuable gentleman’s prize is being donated al,so, and will be on view next. Thursday. Every Thursday night there will he a dance following the euchre and supper without any extra charge for admission.

CHILDRENS NIGHT POSTPONED. Owing to inlluenza the children’s dance to-night has been postponed sine die. ADULT DANCE TO-NIGHT. All Adult Dance will be bold to-night instead of the children's dance. Admission Is. Supper provided. .MONSTER SPORTS DANCE TOAIORROAV. The wind up of the opening week for the social hall will be a monster sport a dunce to-morrow night commencing at 8 o’clock. Messrs Joyce and Ilonetti will supply the music. There will he a number of visiting footballers and hockey players present. The annexe will lie brought into requisition to accommodate tin' overflow.

FUTURE ENGAGEMENTS. The Social Hull promise- to l>e in regular demand for local inactions. Next Wednesday there will he the annual Druids’ hall, and Ihe following Wednesday a hotkey dance. Every Thursday night there will be a euchre and dance, and every Saturday a sports dance. The R.S.A. Minstrel Troupe will occupy the hall twice week - lv for rehearsals for all entertainment to be given in Princess Theatre next month. Once monthly a eabarcl evening will he held, when jazz will reign supreme. Mr lJonetti is organising a jazz band six'cially for the monthly gatherings. The charge for admission will be by couples, and refreshments will bo procurable at the buffet in the annexe. On Monday, July 30th, it is intended to hold a soldiers’ reunion, when nil returned men and their lady friends will he invited to attend. The occasion will he a complimentary social to the ladies’ committee which has done so much to contribute to the financial success of the building fund. It is intended to make an effort lo have the suite of club rooms ready for occupation by the next anniversary of Armistice Day, when a notable gathering will be arranged for, including the presence of several distinguished visitors.
