The Indian community in Sydney protested to the- trustees ot the national gallery against the inscription under the bust of .Mahomet, which says “His was a sensuous lace, selfish and cruel. ’Pile Indians pnimed out that tin* name ot Mahomet is to a third of the human i-.iec what Christ is to the Christian world, and ill keeping with the spirit of ink-ration for the religious lights <>i tile people, the trustees should obliterate the historically nun-curate and gratuitously olfensive inscription.
