About the time of the opening of the Arthur’s Pass tunnel, Mr Taylor, Government Photographer and cinematographer, will be visiting the Coast and this tour will include visits to various parts of Westland, Grey and the north.
On Friday night at the Soldiers’ liall iu Sewell Street a novelty dance for children will be held. Every child it 1 receive a present. In addition goed prizes will be awarded also to the best dressed fairy, poster, fancy dress and novelty oostumo. Tho function is in connection with the campaign for funds for the Returned Soldiers’ Club.
Deferring to the match to-morrow afternoon on Cass Square a Westport paper says the Mokihinui senior team, strengthened by the inclusion of some Duller representatives, play Hokitika on Thursday, and West Coast on Saturday. If the full team gets away, it should give a, good account of itself. The game will start at 2.t0 p.m., and should prove an interesting one. A man named Wm Jolm Gaynor, aged 42 years, was found dead near Spicr.Js Garage, Murchison, yesterday. Gaynor, who was a. married man, was found with a rifle alongside him, and the wound, which is believed to have betm self-inflicted, as ho was seen with the rifle shortly before the shot was hoard, lie was found at 1.20 p.m.
The euchre and daiico held at St Mary's Club rooms oil Monday last passed off very successfully. The prize winners wore Mrs E. Ilocuan, Mrs W. Keller and .Mrs A. Oliver and Messrs Harrison, J. Gcise, and J. l.viich. The luckv table prizes were secured by Mrs G. Eakiii, Misses M. Groufsky, Finnert.y and Mr W. (I nod fellow. The dance was in charge of .Mr S. Godfrey, and Mrs Saxon supplied the music.
To-morrow night at the Soldiers’ Social Hall, the. U.S.A. organisation will continue its euchre tournaments. The present tournament will conclude tomorrow evening, when the valuable prizes offered will be presented, and next Thursday a fresh tournament will begin. To-morrow night subsequent to the cards there will be a dance. Popular prices for admission will be charged and there should he a bumper attendance. Tho grand bazaar at TTari Hari. to he held on Wednesday, August Ist., under the auspices of the lady members of St. Cullibert’s Church promises to prove an attractive one. There will ho a. big display of useful articles of every description, and the proceedings will he wound up in the evening with an entertainment and dance. The management are catering for visitors, and in addition to afternoon tea. a substantial meal will bo provided at 0 p.m. at a moderate charge.
At the children’s fairy dance on Friday night there will ho a pretty tableau efleet depicting the arrival of Cinderella in her fairy coach drawn by fairies. There will he also, a humorous tableau recording the arrival ol the Hayseeds in town. Mesdames Hunter nmi fjviin are organising the benefit for the U.S.A. building fund. Every child attending the dance, will he presented with a trophy, and all will he entertained at supper. 33u> price of admission for children will be one shilling and for adults two shillings. 1 lie commodious hall should lx* well patronised. One of the features of the evening will be a chocolate polka for the juveniles.

The wedding took place at St Andrew’s Church, Westport, on Thursdav evening of Mr Albert Neuman, of Fnirdown, to Miss Fanny Blair, daughter of Mr and Mrs IV. Blair, of M ostport. The bride was led to the altar by her lather and looked very pretty in a dress of crepe-de-chino with sleeves of radium lace and train lined with silver tissue roses, and veil arrantred in mob cap style. She was attended by Miss Maggie Booth as bridesmaid, who was prettily dressed in figured chamoagne, crepe-de-chino, with silver tissue trimmings and wreath of silver leaves with true lover's knots. Mr 11. Jlagedorn acted as host man, Bov A. Miller, M.A., officiated.
