The. following is the most important business transacted by the Coitleivttte: it was resolved: That the programme of every meeting at which the totalisator is used shall include, it the meeting extends over two. three, or more days, at least one race (not being a maiden race or a race in which two-year-olds can compete, or a race for a less distance than seven inrloitgs) iii which only apprentice jockeys shall be eligible to ride ; provided that, on a Stipendiary Steward's certificate that no suitable apprentice jockey can be engaged for tlie race, a licensed jockey limy be substituted, carrying a penalty of Mlb. In such races no rider shall bo allowed a whip or spilt'. An Auckland recommendation that was adopted gives the committee power to run a race in divisions where the number of .starters exceeds 20, and wltqro it is considered advisable, in the interests of safety. Iltib- I was amended to read:—No rave shall lie run over a distance ol less than five furlongs, except raves lor two-year-olds prior to October 1 tit each year. Paragraph 12. Rule L was amended to provide for at least three hunters’ races and a hack and hunters’ .steeplechase, per diem. To such races at least half the total stakes given by the club for the day shall la- allotted. A new clause was added lo .Rule viz: Thai no horse in which any person whose last application lor a trainer’s or jockey’s license has not been granted hy the Licensing ( outmittee. or who is the wife of, or who resides with, or is employed by, any
