Kirkwood broke tbc course record with 70 for the first 18 holes in the Open Championship, barely missing 09, Xweetzer took 79, and Quintet 80. Two entrants who had done 09 on short tees in the preliminary then equalled Kirkwood’s record on the regular tees, which are several hundred yards longer. YEW YORK. July 10. In wood was first in the 36 holes. In to-day's qualifying round Kirkwood is leading with 144. Thus far Kirkwood and Sarazen lead, but 180 more players have a qualifying round to play in the next two days, the chief whereof is Hagen.
