FRITZ HOLLAND.

Tho advent of (Fritz Holland, the famous American and Australian boxer to Hokitika should give a great fillip to boxing in Hokitika, and the surrounding districts. Mr Holland lias iust completed highly successful classes in Greymouth. Ruilanga and Westport. Previous to his present visit to the Coast. ,lie taught for six months in Wellington, and before that, he was teaching in Southland for eleven months. In Invercargill and fifteen adjacent towns he had 555 pupils under his instiuetioii. In Wellington in 11)21 Mr Holland put over 3C'i pupils through their paces and in lf)20. in the Manawatu district, lie taught 353 young enthusiasts. Hi- schools in this district were at Tailiape. Keihling. Fox ton. Shannon Levin, and Palmer-ton North. Some of the Is-.-t known boxers in Australasia are pupils of Mr Holland. Among them might lie mentioned Paul MeQuarrie, present heavy-weight cliamtiion of V.Z.. Laurie Cadnian. Syd Stevens, Kvnn McQuni'rie, Charlie McQuarrie. Frank Budget the present Southland boxing instructor. Boh \\ iliianis. Fred Block, Ned Stralfoti. and Chris Mcßae. Hotli Straifon and Mcßae aie considered ‘‘certainties” for X.Z. championships this year. Fritz Holland taught boxing for four years in Sydney, two years in Newcastle. two years in San Francisco and for three years in Spokane. Mr Holland carries letters of recommendation from the Mayors of Greymouth and Westport, and trout tin* Mavors and Boxing Associations, and leading citizens wherever ho has been. h is safe to predict that hi- endeavour to form a class here will prove highly successful, and that hi- visit will mark the beginning of a revival c.t boxing entliu-ia-ni bore, as it ha- done olscwhero.
