It is understood that if ho had not acted voluntarily he would have been deposed. The Government report indicates that there has been deliberate perversion by highly placed ollieials in the State of Xablia, of the administration of justice for the purpose of damaging the State of Patiala, including systematised attacks, bv means of intentionally labiirated eases and deliberate conviction ol innocent persons. The Maharajah of Xablia ignored official warnings on the subject, and the Government concluded that he was counteneing these illegal proceedings. The Government hesitated to accept the abdication, but has finally decided to take over the administration of Nulvlut forthwith. The Maharaja abdicated in favour of bis soil, aged four. The Maharaja undertakes to reside outside the State with a substantial recompense to Patiala to remain loyally obedient to the British Crown and Government of India, lie will be permitted to retain bis titles and receive an alowanee from the State.
