POR GREY RIVER IIIISPITAL. ((Hey Argus). A medical superintendent tor the Civv River Hospital, in the person ot Dr James Francis Cleveland Moore, M.. H.. Ch.H., was appointed at yesterday's me. -ting of the Grey Hospital hi in rd. There were I~> applications lor the superintendent ship, and these applications were all considered hy the Hoard. Mr E. Williams moved that the applications lie reduced to three, and Mi ,). Creaney seconded. Mr W. 11. I’urlitt thought the Board should adopt the usual procedure, and that was to give each applicant a hearing. It would be better to reduce tlm number to six at a UtllO. .Members could vote for a- ninny as they liked, he -aid. This was the procedure followed at the llot'otlgll Cottncih Mr Brislane said that all had open minds on the matter. They all "'antled tho best man. Mr Rarlitt said that to reduce tho names to three was too dra.-tie. He would move as an ninendi it that tln* names he reduced to six. Mr Williams: You'll get to the same plaeel He withdrew his morion, and the amendment became the motion ami was carried. .Members then voted, the Secretary acting as returning oHicor, and tho pressmen as scrutineers. The names were reduced to two. and Dr .Moore was tho suecessiul applicant, winning by seven votes to one. Dr Moore i- a Hokitika hoy and was educated there and at tno High School, Dunedin, and Otago Uuiversitv. lie is L’st years of age. and graduated in Ril'd, at the Otago Uni-ver-itv, with the diploma M. 8., Cli.B. Since his graduation. Dr Moure has been for four years a resident doctor in Auckland Hospital, the past two years holding the position of senior medical officer of a staff ot eight. IDs testimonials were excellent. Dr Moore is a son of Mrs Moore of Fitzherbert Street. _ MATRON APPOINTED.
Miss Geraldine E. Broad was appointed matron of the Grey River Hospital, in place of Mi-s S. Kitto. M.i-s Broad was trained at the Wellington Hospital and remained there as sister until 1007. Eater she was for two years matron of Victoria Hospital. She was, between the years 1910-12, at a private nursing home in London. Sfie gained her midwifery certificate in Queen Charlotte's Hospital (London and also the ( ..M.B. She was matron of the Ha worn Hospital. resigning in 1920. Since September 1920. she has been an assistant Inspector of Hospitals, in the Public Health Department, Dunedin.
