W ES'll.A ND SU B- UNION. A meeting of the Management Committee was held last evening at 7.30 p.m. Mr F. McGregor in the chair and there wore also present, Messrs Houston, Stafford. Aldridge. Dowell, Breeze, and Heenan. It was resolved to wire to the Innngahua Sub-Union asking if they could play the Dittman Shield challenge game at Hokitika on Saturday next, Juno 30th. It was resolved that in the event of tins game not taking place, the following fixtures will take place: Seniors—United v. Kiwis (Mr Askew) ; Excelsiors v. Kuniara, at Hokitika (Mr Gilloooly); Kokatahi v. Hari llari at Ilari Hari (Mr W. A. Wilson). Juiriiors—Exceltffors v. A.raihura, at Arahura (Mr Cutbush); ltinui v. Kiwis at Rimu (Mr Wogati); Kokatahi v. llari Hari at Hari Hari (Mr Sutherland). Third Grade —School r. Excelsiors. The Referees Association asked for the light to a delegate on the Management Committee.- Referred to special meeting. The Judicial Committee reported having ordered C. Neilson to stand by for the rest of the season and reported an admission of had language by another Kokatahi player.—Received and recommendation approved; the latter charge being referred back to Tlie Committee to deal with. The first spell produced no score, though the local team persistently peppered Craxton (the AH Black goalie) with shots from all angles. The visiting goalkeeper was compelled to concede a couple of corners, but otherwise he gave n fine display. Sherringham was endeavonring to emulate his last Wednesday’s performance, and was always troublesome. In the second half Campbell led his side in a number of dribbling invasions, being ably supported by limes and Dacre. The last-nam-ed. alter an opportune dash, found the net. New Zealand 1 ; New South Wales 0. The home men vainly endeavoured to beat Craxton, but the New Zealand goalkeeper, with Braithwnite, repeatedly repulsed the Blues. Ballard forced a corner from' a long shot, but the Blues chared their goal. Just before time was called, Lennard beat Craxton with an awkward ground shot, and the game ended a draw. 1 all. RUGBY PLAY.
SYDNEY, June 24. In the presence of 70(H) people today the Maori team were again defeated by New South Wales by ft point, the home team winning by 14 points to 13. Notwithstanding the defeat, the New Zealanders played a, better game than they had hitherto been showing, with improved team work. The game was played on a sloppy ground, which was expected to give The visitors nil advantage, but it failed to do so. The local men used strenuous attacking tactics, which enabled them to lead by six to three at halftime. The game from the commencement of the second spell, was very forceful, neither side giving any quarter where anv advantage was to he seized but New South Wales bad superior combination which enabled them to emerge the victors. For New South Wales. Greatorex (2) Walker and Grossman scored tries Crossman converted one. Foi tne Maoris. Bevan, Mill mid Gemmoll got tries, Pino mid Tainpn converting two of thorn.
