UNIONISTS AND NON-UNIONISTS. GISBORNE. June 23 The wntoi'sidcrs demanded that the Gisborne Sheepfarmers Company's permanent lightermen join the Union but the lightermen refused. The watersulers intimated that thev will not work with the former. The dispute-- committee meeting was abortive. The employers communicated with the national di-putes committee which replied that two members were coming to Gisborne to assist in a settlement. Only ships using the sheepfarmers' lighters are affected. Meanwhile the water-iders are instructed to work the lighters but none offered this morning.
