ADMIRES OUR PAPERS. LONDON EDITOR PAYS TRIBUTE. WELLINGTON, June 14 Mr Kenton Maopherson, formerly foreign editor of the London “Daily Mail.” paid high tribute to the New Zealand Press when speaking before local business men yesterday. “Well informed, admirably edited, wonderfully put together,” he called it, and said that he had studied it with great interest and profit. Like Ford Xnrthehfi'e. he was struck by the great number of newspapers which he luid seen in the Dominion. “Eventown of any sice has its daily news-

paper, morning or evening, and every bodv reads them!” He had seen working men on their way to toil and each and everyone had a copy of the morning paper under bis arm. He did not know whether 'his was because the New Zealand working man had more time for readtig than 1 1 is English brother. .Laughter). He admitted, following on a hint by Mr J. Myers, that British papers had not been well served with New Zealand news in the past; but that was all over now. The jiaojile here appeared to have a thirst for new s ; they advertised, too. with a rapidiiy and to an extent which he found admirable. CLYDESDALES SHIPPED. DUNEDIN, dime 15.
