A Wellington correspondent say* the Premier is almost ready to announce the name of tho new Minister. The task was narrowed down after the caucus to two North Island members, Mr J. A. Young, Hamilton, and Mr R. E. Bollard. Raglan. Now it- is certain that Mr Bollard will receive the Ministerial position, lie is one of the Government whips. Thus Mr Massey w ill billow a well established precedent in appointing a whip to the Ministry, two former "whips. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes ami Mr Guthrie having taken this line. The promotion of the new Minister will not add to tho front bench debating strength, for he is seldom heard in the House, hut his qualifications appear to he of service to Iho party for several sessions and a pleasant personality. He will probable take the portfolio of Native Affairs. Mr Bollard entered the House in December 1911 ns member lor Raglan. His father the late Mr -loll" Rollnrdi for twenty-six ycni-s _ represented the Eden constituency in I arliament. Tho Premier, if he chooses, t . an make another Ministerial appointment hut ho will probably regard it as a good tactical move to keep this position in suspense for the session.
