AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. ENGLISH OHAAU’KLNSHIP. LONDON, June 15. Havers won the northern open golf championship with 295. Hagen was 2!)ti, AivDonald and Smith 297, and Kirkwood 298. The third round of the golf ehnmpionslii|■ was played ill dull but fine weather. The round produced some amazing play, and resolved itself into a fierce fight between Havers and Wlnteonibe (young English prolessinnals), Hagen, McDonald and Smith (Americans). and Kirkwood (Australian). ’lhe last two jumped to the head of the list, both having a marvellous record, breaking rounds ot li9. Kirkwood s play from the seventh to the fourteenth la,!rs was phenomenal. His iron and tnashio shots were so <1 sully accurate that ho had nothing to do on the greens. He ottlv took 33 for the last nine holes, which was most wonderful golf for the third round of a gruelling anxious championship on links like the Troon old course.
