THE BULGARIAN REVOLT
AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CARLE ASSOCIATION. AR-AIED forces enlisted. LONDON, June 11. Only the most meagre news is coming from Sofia direct. The reports purporting to emanate from Sofia aie vague and contradictory. It is obvious that a severe censorship prevails. It. is confirmed that Stambouliski’s village has been captured by the Government- troops, but ,Stain bouliski’s followers escaped. Reports variously say that- Stnmbouliski has been killed, captured, and has reached the west- bank o. the Alaritzn river. Sporadic lighting is reported in many parts of Bulgaria. There is evidence that the Government is enlisting armed forces in excess of the establishment, allowed hv the Ti'eaty ot -Veililly . S: fis argues that they are volunteers to meet domestic exigencies. Provincial prefects have been dismissed and replaced by, in most cases, colonels ot tho army reserve. The ‘ Daily Express’s” Sofia- i-oires-piiii-rlent state*: AL Duparingotf. cxAlinister of Justice, and AL Grosskuff ex-President- of Parliament, "ere arrested while attempting to reach 'furkey. and brought to Suti'.i. where the crowd, crying “Thieve*.” tried to lynch them, but the police saved then' lives.
