EXHIBITION DELEGATION

(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian). BLENHEIM, Juno Id. ADDITION TO PARTY. Air J. W. Collins (Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce) joinod the Exhibition Delegation and proceeded with the party from Nelson to Blenheim to-day. A WET TRIP. The party left, at 9 a.m. in face of a driving rain. The roads were slippery at- first and later very bad, the driver describing the first 20 miles as the worst road ho had ever driven over. Havelock was reached in time for lunch and afterwards, an hour’s spin over a good road, brought tho party to Blenheim by 2.30. the Mayor and others were met, and a good meeting promised for to-night. OLD COASTERS. Mr George Hills, formerly of McKay and Son, is now one of the leading business men of Blenheim. He is taking a prominent part in arranging for the meeting. Mr Frank Bull has just been appointed Town Clerk here. He,is the son of a former Postmaster at Hokitika. A number of other Most Coasters resident hero are interested in promoting the publicity of the exhibition. OFF TO PICTON. The party leave at 8.30 to-morrow for Pictou, where a meeting will be held at 10 o’clock in the morning and then depart at noon for Nelson where a meeting will he held to-morrow night. WESTPORT ON SATURDAY. The round of meetings will conclude at Westport on Saturday night. MEETING -AT HOKITIKA. Mr Collins has agreed to meet a deputation of snwmillers at the County Chambers Hokitika, at 11 o'clock on Monday morning, to bear repivs motions of the millers regarding restri.-teil export of red pine from the Dominion. EFFECTS OF FLOOD. The effects of the flood about BlouWoim are rapidly disappearing. MEETING AT BLENHEIM. PICTON, June 15. The delegates who met the Blenheim public last evening were well received, tho Borough Council adjourning for three quarters of an hour to hear the addresses. In addition to the usual speakers. Mr Collins explained that seven of the principal Government Departments would be assisting "ith displays at the Exhibition and indicated various ways in which Marlborough Province could assist. Mayor P/irkcr (who presided), and other speakers, supported the project. Subsequently a committee was set up and resolved to take part in the movement. Messrs A. F. O’Doiuighue and Norman Parker were appointed Joint Secretaries. Some of the Coasters present indicated lines on which they -would co-operate and it is expected the Marlborough display will be a notable feature of the Exhibition.

MFETING AT PICTON. At 10.20 to-day a meeting was held at Picton, Mayor Jones presiding, a number of ladies and gent lemon being present. Considerable interest was displayed in the remarks made by Messrs Butler, Jeffries, Collins, Parlift and Evans. The Mayor stated the district- would do its part and co-oper-ate with the Blenheim Committee. The Mayor was appointed a Vice-Presi-dent of the Exhibition Council. A Committee of seven with power to add to their number was appointed. Promises of support from Picton Progress League and Picton Chamber of Commerce were given, and there is no doubt the district will take a lively interest in the Exhibition. The delegation left til 11.30 a.m. for Nelson. BEEN HELM’S DECISION. [nv TKLKG it ai’ it—i* j;n muss association.] BLENHEIM. June 15. Tile delegation from the West. Coast waited on the Borough Council last night to explain the objects of tho proposed British Intercolonial Exhibition to bo held at Hokitika in December 1923, and also to enlist the practical sympathy of Marlborough. Mr W. Jeffries said too long AI a rib ore. ugh, Nelson and the West Coast were considered the Cinderella of Now Zealand. The aim of the Exhibition was to bring forward the products and possibilities of llte.-e splendid districts. Last year’sexports from Atari borough to the WestCoast were about £75,000. The Coast had things Alarlborough required. Air J. W. Collins (Secretary of Department of Industries and Commerce) urged Alarlborough to enter into the spirit of the enterprise. A meeting of businessmen afterwards decided that Afarlborough’s assistance bo forthcoming and a local committee was set tip to make arangements for the Exhibition of .Marlborough produce.
