LATE LOCALS.
The pumping operations which have been carried out during the last two months in the coal-producing area, of the Blackball mine, that was flooded during the recent fire, viz., No. 9 dip, have so far exceeded expectations. The manager hopes that No. 1 level will be reached by Saturday, which will mean that production of coal from this portion of the mine will be resumed in the near future. The manager, Air Parsonage, is to lie congratulated on obtaining such quick results, as it was contended that it would be some considerable time before the dip could be pumped out.
