EXHIBITION DELEGATION
MURCHISON- FACTORY. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian). NELSON, June 14. Tho British and Intercolonial Exhibition party left Reef ton at 8.30 yesterday reaching Murchison at 11.30. While there they had an opportunity of inspecting a modern dairy factory built last year at- a cost of £9OOO. The factory was established in 1911, but new premises being required, a fiuo concrete structure with every modern requirement was erected. There are 130 suppliers over a radius of 24 miles. The product last season was 250 tons and next year 320 tons are expected. The suppliers this year received Is 3d, with a further bonus to come. ELECTRIC POWER SCHEME. Mr Fraser (County Clerk) is supplying the delegation with particulars of the electric power scheme for tiio district. The hydro-electric soureo of the power is six miles from Murchison and tho cost- of installation is £13,500. and next year the scheme will be self supporting- The reticulation extends a distance of ten miles, all the farmers and the town of Murchison using the power and light, which is available at full peak, all day and night.
PUBLIC MEETING. At 1.30 p.m. a public meeting was held in the County Council Chambers, Mr Monahan (County Chairman) presiding. There was a fair attendance and a lively interest was taken in the project. Addresses were given by Messrs Butler, JefTries, Parfitt, and Evans, all being well received. A Committee of fourteen, with power to add to their number was appointed. A further meeting will be held shortly to enlist the support of dairy suppliers and farmers, who will bo added to the Committee. The County Chairman was a ppointed a Vice-President of the Exhibition Council. The districtwill ho represented at tho Exhibition by a good exhibit and special motor trips, through to Hokitika in one day, will he arranged at- Exhibition time, for parties of Murchison visitors. ARRIVAL AT NELSON.
The delegates left for Nelson at 3 p.m. and arrived at their destination at 7.30 p.tn. The weather continues wet. They are proceeding to Blenheim to-day. A good meeting is expected here to-morrow night on the return from Blenheim. Tho, visit is ensuring n very general interest in tho Exhibition project.
