A REVOLUTION

BULGARIAN GOVERNMENT OVERTHROWN. CARRIED ON PEACEFULLY. IUSTUAf.IAN AND N.Z. CABI.K ASSOCIATION. Other reports state the King invited Meloticlf, Rector of Sofia University, to form a .Ministry. Melelieff has proclaimed martial law .

Belgrade reports that according to nows from the Bulgarian frontier a revotuaion has broken nut in Sofia. A Macedonian committee has seized the reins of Government by force. Tito Bulgarian legation in London regards tho above as unconvincing Ini< admits the Macedonian committee is vor\ hostile to Stamhoiiliski’s policy of reconciliation with Serbia. Stamboulaski came into power with a narrow margin ol' votes. An earlier report of the revolutionary outbreak cabled on 27th May was denied next day. but to-day's messages give eight names of tho now Cabinet.

A MIXED MINISTRY. (Received this day at 10.10 a.m.) LONDON. June 10. The “Morning Post’s” Belgrade correspondent states that the King swore in a. now Ministry which includes Radicals, Democrats, Liberals. Socialists, and neutrals. The real aim of the Ministry is to restore order and make possible the economic restoration of the country. M. Zancoff called the new classes to the colours and pioolaimo,l a state siege. Military patrols are circulating Sofia- in armed ears. BULGARIAN COMMUNIQUE. (Received this day at 12.45 p.m A LONDON. June 10 The Bulgarian Miniser in London ”oceiveed to-dav the following communique from Sofia:—The Stamhoulisky Cabinet is overthrown, and a new Cabinet has been formed by Professor Zaneuff. consisting of representatives of ~11 the opposition parties, including Socialists, but not Communists. The chance took place without any disturbance and perfect order prevails throughout the country. The formation of the new Ministry provoked much enthusiasm. It has assumed office with the object of the internal pacification of the country, which has been exposed tor a long time, causing constant anxiety to former governments, and constitutional policy is thus condemned liv the whole of public opinion. The realisation of a law nil regime, with constitutional lilrerties, will be the new government s first aim. With the nation’s unanimous support, the new Government's foreign policy is inspired by a firm and specific resolve by all classes nAd will tend toward uplifting Bulgaria’s good name before the world through a steady and loyal attitude towards all, and the continued observance of peace treaties and the establishment of still more friendly relations with neighbouring Balkan States.

(Received this dav at 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, Juno 10’ Tho “Morning Post’s Belgrade correspondent says that the revolution was carried out at three o’clock on Saturday morning, and was led by General Lnzaroff, President of the League Reserve Officers, supported by active officers of the garrisons. The revolutionaries entered Sofia, killed the Prefect, and occupied public buildings one after another. All the exMinisters, except Stamboulisky him--elf, who is in the country, were immediately arrested. MINISTERS LIBERATED. LONDON, June 10. It is reported Stamhulisky had been endeavouring to stir up the peasants and in a reli on Sofia. Unconfirmed reports from Belgrade State fighting has started in several parts of Bulgaria, many oeing killed or wounded. A telegram -from a Sofia correspondent says the Sobranje has dissolved. Ministers arrested by the Stamboulisky Government have been liberated. GREAT ENTHUSIASM. (Received this day at 1.5 p.m.) VIENNA. June HI. Reports state that the Bulgarian revolution was carried out, without Macedonian assistance, solely by an army of Btirgeoisies. who overpowered the police and compelled the King to dismiss the Cabinet. Thirty persons were killed. Great enthusiasm for the new movement has swept over all elas-cs in Sofia.
