FRIDAY, JUNE Bth. The Committee mot at nooon to-day. Present:—W. Meld rum, Esq., S.M., (Chairman), Messrs E. Kilgour, H. Bignell, W. Campbell, C. J. Nightingale, and F. McGregor. Before commencing the business of the day, the Chairman read the following letter trom the Mestluiid Chamber of Commerce, Hokitika:—“T beg to advise you that- at a Conference of Westland Local Bodies held at the Town Hall, Hokitika, on the Until itist.. the* following resolution was adopted :—’That the* Conference approves of steps being taken to increase the hostel accommodation of tin* town and district, believing same to be unessential requirement for the immediate and future expansion of the district, resultant from the wider facilities for traffic which are now opening up to various parts of the Coast. The Chairman on behalf of the unanimous wish of the Committee stressed the point mentioned in the letter, saving they gave as a recommendation to the licensees of the district, to increase to their utmost the accommodation they have at their disposal, and to do so for the good ol the district generally and to their own personal advantage.
