Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: CHRISTCHURCH. June G. Store sheep.—A smaller yarding, mostly hoggets. Any good quality stuff sold well, hut inferior sorts were hard to sell. Best sound mouth ewes 23s (id to 325. extra good G and 8 tooth ewes to 31s 9d ; medium Ids (3d to 21s. others down to 11s Id. Best wethers 24-s to -_>9s Id. otln-rs 21s 10J to 23s Gd: M.S. hoggets 17s to 21s 2d, others 13s Gd to lfis Gd; best ewe hoggets 23s (id to 24s 7d. One good line of half-breds to 28s Id. Wether hoggets 16s to 21s 7d. others 13s to los (id. Store cattle.- A fairly large yarding, but mostly mixed sorts. Ihe demand generally was good. Best 3 and 4-vr. steers C 3 15s to £4 -Is, 2-yr .ditto £2 .Is to £3 2s (id, yearling ditto 20s to 28s; 2vi\ heifers £2 5s to £2 12s Gd. yearlings 17s Gd to 30s: cows 15s to 3Ds. pigs.—An average yarding of porkers whieli sold on a par with last week’s rates. Light porkers £1 los to £2 2s Gd. heavy £2 os to £2 12s Gd. extra to £2 17s; average price 7.hi to Bd. A small yarding of baooners, wliielt met with a better demand ; values were—Light hare,tiers £3 7s to £3 15s, heavy £3 17s Gd to £4 lCs, extra heavy to £5. The average price was Gd to Old. Choppers made £3 to £(i. Store nigs.—A small yarding whn a caused prices to harden. Weanrr's Ids 1 1-. 14s, extra good to 13s. slips I<> to 235. medium stores 24s to 28s. sows in pig £3 10s to 03 17s Gd. No large stores were oll’ering.
Beef.—Another large yarding. 112 as against 425 last week. The quality was very irregular. The market openel easier than last week, hut improved as it progressed and on the average there was little quotable difference to last week. Prime steers L 9 to £l2 UK, , virr to £l3 In-, medium £6 10s to £8 15s. others down to C 4 IDs. Prime heifers £5 IDs to £8 Ids. extra to £ll. others £3 to £5 ss. Prime tows (•! 15s to £7 IDs, extra £2 15s to £4 10.1. Mutton. —A very huge yarding, most I v ewes. 1 lit 1 market opened easier than last, week by 2s to 3s, hut improved somewhat as it progressed, hut on the whole showed a decline of Is to I - G(1 tier head. Wethers, however, did show the seme decline. Outside and West Coast buyers helped to keep the market firm. ’Prime wethers :lh Gd to 30s. extra 38s to 425. medium 28s to 31s. others down t'o 20s; prime ewes 24s to 29-' (id : extra 30s to 30s. one extra good let iis (id. medium 19s Gd to 230 (id. others, down to 14s (id. Lambs.— A very small yarding, and the quality generally was indifferent, shotting signs of the finish of lhe season. Exporters were operating keenly. Prices were Hid per lb overall, or better.
