THE NOVELTY BAZAAR.
COSTER IVIIADE TO-XICHT. The appeal for financial help for the Hokitika Beautifying Society to carry oil its good work in adding to the amenities of the town, will no doubt have a. liberal response at tho Princess TheSitrO to-day and to-morrow, when a Novelty Bazaar is in progress. From an early hour this morning' there was a busy bee of workers preparing the large hall for the event. The seats had to be removed from the ground floor, stalls erected, and general preparations made for the crowd which began. to put in an. appearance at an early hour this afternoon. Willing workers soon had matters ship shape, and by the opening hour all was ready for business and the stall-hohlers are looking forward to a busy time as the day proceeds. There is a large principal stall adjacent to the entrance, whereon there is a great display of novelty goods. There is much useful clothing, as well as domestic articles, and general housebold requirements. The variety seems endless, and those inspecting the stall had no difficulty in satisfying their requirements. Next to the main stall, is the sweets stall—a very good place of business. Here there is a remarkable display of home-made sweets, and there is no fear in predicting that befur the night wanes, the “sold out” ticket will have to be hung out. Next, the visitor comes to the produce stall, and this is loaded with, a supply cf eatable and domestic supplies useful for every household. Business was brisk here, and there was quite it inn on many lines. The refreshment stall is well situated on the southern side of the hall, and was particularly well patronised, the pleasantly served til fermion tea attracting numerous customers. Games are being arranged for, and side shows will be in progress tonight.
At 7.30 o'clock this evening the Foster Fa ratio, will eventuate. Over 50 performers will take part, and folk are now getting on the tip-toe of excitement in regard to the event. Tho vot-
ing system is exciting great interest and there will be much emulation fertile coveted 'prizes which are being donated for Llie occasion. The Parade, which is under the personal direction of Mrs W. Wilson, will be repeated a second time to-night at 8.30 o’clock, when the balance ol tlu* vocal and terpsieltoroan entertainment will be staged also. Below is given a list of those taking part iu the Roster Parade and those voting will find the list useful for reference when viewing the display to-night ''lllll to-morrow. The Bazaar is thus well launched and its success should be gratifying to tin* promoters and to the responsible officers of the Beautifying Society who deserve to be encouraged to the I idlest extent. The Bazaar will be open again tu-inonow atternoon, and also at night w hen the programme will be repeated. Voting for the Poster Parade closes at 9.'.H1 o’clock to-morrow night, and the result should be announced about 10 o’clock. Cumulative votes may he lodged at the Voting Bureau near the stage, and no doubt a good cash business will be done in that quarter. Everyone paying Is admission to-night receives a voting paper, and extra voting papers will be on sale at .id each. Tliis competition should return a substaiitail sum to the funds of the Beautifying Society.
