FART.HQ UAIv E DISAST ER. LONDON, May 31. Teheran reports tremendous havoc was wrought by a violent earthquake in the region of Tunborihaidari, southwest of Meshed. The earthriuakc lasted for hours, causing the deaths of thousands of people and devastating a large area. The cable is not clear whether it was the same earthquake cabled yesterday, but Simla seismograph recorded two distinct earthquakes.

The disastrous result of the earthquake at Tarbatihaidri, is shown bv the fact that six villages in the vicinity cf the town were destroyed completely. The dead are estimated at four thousand. Shocks are still being experiemed in the devastated area. Medical aid has been despatched, but it is feared that it will be of little avail. The original disturbance lasted from eleven on Fi idav evening till four on Saturday morning. MANY FIRES. Burroughs Milling Coy's workshop and factories covering two acres were almost destroyed, together with a quantity of motor bodies. this day at 9.25 a.in.) LONDON. May 31. Owing to strong opposition to Max Beerhohm’s caricatures ol the Prince of Wales, also King Edward, who' is represented as an angel, there arc being withdrawn. The action has been taken in deference to a letter which Max Bceiholm has written to the exnibitcrs. wherein he states: —‘‘I gather from the newspapers that certain drawings me likely to shock the susceptibilities of the public. No question of principle is involved. It is one of taste. Ibe drawings were conceived in a spirit ot lighthearted fantasy, but if the public is likely to regard them as seriously unkind, or oven disloyal, 1 think it would be well to avoid a misunderstanding by their removal. The caricature of the Prince of Wales has been purchased by Dumaurier. the actor, for forty guineas. He considers it extremely funny nml inoffensive, and would like to piesent it- to the Prince, it he knew him better.
UNEARTHING SKELETONS. TO HONOR INDIAN PRINCESS. (Received tins dav at- 9.2.) a.m.) LONDON, May 31. One hundred human skeletons were unearthed in Saint George’s Churchyard, Gravesend, during a search tor the bones of the Indian Princess. Pocahontas. who saved the life ot Capt. John Smith, in Virginia, ru IGOS. She placed her own head on the block whereon Smith, her lover, was about to bo executed. The Indians were so touched that, they spared both. Ihe Princess came to England as the guest of James 1. The holies will lie taken to America where a worthy mausoleum has been prepared. Arthur Keith and other authorities assisted in the search, as there was a fire in the church m 1727 and the hodies wore removed to a common i£ia\e. The gravediggers to day brought up bucket, after bucket of hones. Experts are confident they will he able to identify the peculiarly shaped Indian head, flic skulls were put into one heap, thighbones in another, and all carefully measured. The descendants ot I rineess Pocahontas in America and England are interesting themselves m the search, including the present wife < Mr Woodrow Wilson and General Robert Baden Powell, who have 1 ocahontas’ blood iw flieir veins.
