THE POSTER PARADE

NEXT TUESDAY ANI) WEDNESDAY. Great interest is being aroused in the Poster Parade to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday next at the Princess Theatre in aid of the Hokitika Beautifying Association. There are over 50 performers taking part in the parade, and every member will ho differently constitute.. The Parade, will he in fact, a fancy dress competition, and the audience will have the opportunity of expressing its choice by a popular vote. Tt is intended to hand to every adult ticket- holder entering the Bazaar, n voting paper on which the choice ot the host costumed performer may he recorded. The voting will not he governed by any legal limitations, and cumulative voting will he per miss able in fact will he encouraged. Extra voting papers will he on sale at 3d each, and the motto of the competition will he to “Vote Early and Often.’’ Ballot boxes will be placed in difieient parts of tno hall where the voting papers may he deposited. These cull ho counted ultimately by the scrutineers who will be selected from responsible citizens. To facilitate cumulative voting, there will he a \ oting Bureau conducted by Mrs Boyd and Mis.-, Moore where coin of the realm may he lodged in hulk, and votes given in number for the record of any candidate or candidates. Thus a patron desiring to wire go votes to any one candidate. m a y call at the bureau, deposit £l. and indicate the voting preference when the votes will be credited to the candidate favoured. This will save writing out BO tickets, and permit the voting business, as also the counting, to proceed more rapidly. , The first grand parade will take place at 7.30 o’clock on Tuesday, when the several performers will he announced bv the D.C, A second parade will take place later in the evening wheni t «■ remainder of the entertainment »> 1 >e rdven In view of the public demand for seats, it has been resolved to reserve seats upstairs at one shilling extra The entertainment will he continue for two nights, and a big success is pro mised. Mrs \V. Wilson, the organiser, has a splendid bevy of young ladies in the troupe taking part in the luster Parade.
