Alelnnes defeated Sehlcsinger, 7-5, 0-2. Hawkes heat Anderson, 7-5, 0-2. The scores in a doubles game. Hawkes and Alelnnes v. Anderson, and Schlcsiugcr were 8-2, 9-11, 7-7, and the had light caused the game’s abandonment. Alelnnes. who is only 21, is distinctly boyish in build and in bis ways. He greatly impressed the onlookers by Us all-round brilliancy and his sparkling shots. Anderson excepting on isolated occasions, could do nothing right, espeeiullv against a strong westerly wind that was blowing across the court. The doubles seemed a certain win for Hawkes and Alelnnes, but a temporary recovery by Anderson saved the second set, after 10 sterling games lor the ascendancy.
