An agreement has been reached by the employers and miners whereby the Ruhr miners’ wages will he increased by fifty-live per cent to meet the increased cost of living. RANKS COMPELLED TO CLOSE. (Received this dnv at 12.45 p.m.) BERLIN, May 29 According to advices from Essen the confiscation of the money in the Reichsbnnk has compelled private banks to close early as they have insufficient cash to meet the demands made by tho public. A lurge part of the .amount seized was intended to pay wages to the miners.
Tho managers of the private hanks decided to inform the French general (hat the nonpayment of wages was likely to lead to a catastrophe and they requested the promise that any fresh supply of hank notes would not he seized, otherwise no mode money would be brought to Essen.
