POSTER PARADE AND NOVELTY BAZAAR.
Ii is announced in this issue that tne poster Parade and Novelty Bazaar in aid of the funds of the Hokitika Beautifying Society will ho held in Princess Theatre (by courtesy of Messrs McLean and -Moore) on luesdav and Wednesday of next week.
The Bazaar will include a great display of novelties. For some weeks now the ladies’ committee has been preparing for the event, and by a labor of love, has assembled a great variety of useful articles which- should nnd a ready sale. Many gifts of goods have been donated also, and those who have not sent in their material or gifts may do so any day this week to Mesdamos Coulson, Butler or Michel. There will be various stalls at the Bazaar, as also a number of side shows, and in addition a comfortable refreshment room where dainty afternoon tens and suppers will be served. Knell evening there will be a special attraction for the general public with the Poster Parade and competition. This will be under the direction of Mrs W. Wilson, and will be found to be a distinctive novelty. About fifty performers will be taking part in the parade, which will include effective marching and groupings. The-competition to select the best dressed characters will ho of great interest, and several prizes will be offered. In addition to the Indies’ display, 'there will he a parade also of (VFlaherty’s mounted foot which will perform a wonderful march and answer the roll call. Altogether the entertainment will supply an evening of special pleasure and delight. The occasion for the Bazaar is to renew the funds of the Hokitika Beautifying Society, which continues to do such useful work for tlie benefit of the appearance of tlic town. Ihe scope of the Society’s work is limited only by its financial resources, and the greater tiie help in that direction the wider will be tiie service of the Society in forwarding the interests of the town. The Bazaar affords a ready and pleasant means of contributing to a funo which is being usefully applied for the benefit of the whole community.
