ADFKNCTON STORK MARKET, BEEF DECLINES 20s PER HEAD. LARGE YARDING OF MUTTON (By Telegraph —Special to Cuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Alessrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.—An unusually large yarding for this time tillle of the year. The entry comprised mostly of wethers and hoggets, nor many good ewes be- j ing yarded. The ewes comprised mostly interior sorts but there were a few pens of extra good sorts from the Chatliams. The market was very irregular throughout and except for best sorts was scarcely as firm as last week. Best. 2-tooth ewes (Chatliams) to 36s Od. best S.M. ewes 27s to 31s J)d. mediums ditto 18s to 2Gs Id, others down to 12s: best wethers 2-ls to 25s ltd
medium ditto 2tl, s (id to 23s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 19s to 21s Cd; best ewe hoggets 22s to 24s Hid. others 18s Cd to 21s 6d ; AI.S.S. hoggets 17s Cd to 21s, others 13s Cd to 17s. Store cattle.—There was a full yarding. hut mostly of nondescript sorts, mainly cows. The demand generally was dull:— 3 ami 4-vr steers £3 to £5 os 2-yr. ditto £2 10s to £3, yearlings 15s to 255; 2-yr heifers £2 to £2 10s yearlings 25s to 335; cows 15s to 30s. Pigs.—There was a small entry of fat pigs. The demand for baconer.s was easy, porkers selling well, and values were: Eight porkers 42s to 475. heavy 50s to 575, average price 7d to 8d; light baeoners £3 to £3 10s, heavy £3 15s to £4. extra heavy to £4 12s, average price 5Jd to Cd. Store pigs.—A small entry, and the demand was easier than last week. A'alues were:—AVeaners 3s to Bs. small stores 12s to 18s, medium 21s to 28s, large to 355; sows in pig £3 to £3 17s Cd. Beef.—Another very large yarding, comprising 445 bead, including consignments from the North Island and South Canterbury, as well as several good st”lion lines. The quality general ly was better than usual, but the market all round was decidedly easier, showing nil average drop of quite 20s per brad. Prime steers £S to £ll 10s. extra to £l3 ss: medium £0 to £7 15s. others £4 5s to £4 15s : prime heifers £1 10s to £7 ss. extra to £9. others £3 to £-1 sh; prime cows .£4 to £0 ss, extra to £7 12s (id. others £2 t-e £3 15s. Mutton.—A larger yarding than last week, again mostly ewes. The quality generally wa-s indifferent, allluuiga several ini's of excellent wethers and cues were offered. The market was easier for ewes hut there was no difference for wethers, the freezing buyers operating sparingly. Prime wethers 29s to 355, extra, to 3'L Id: medium 25s to 28s Cd, others down to 225. Graziers operated keenly for any good lines of shearing sheep. Prime ewes 19s to 2Gs, extra up to 32s Rid; medium 11s to 18s Cd, others down to 12s. Lambs.—A medium entrv. including some of excellent quality, blit the majoritv of the yarding showed signs of the end of the season. The demand was keen all round and the market showed a decided advance on the average the overall price being 9(1 to Old.
