A Gazette Extraordinary issued tonight contains a proclamation calling a meeting of the General Assembly foi the despatch of business cm Thursday, June Mth. CHURCH CONGRESS. CHRISTCHURCH, May 2d. The Church Congress opened with a Choral Eucharist service in the Cathedral and procession of about one hundred clergy, including many visitors. The bishop's sermon was preached by Archbishop Julius, who said the Congress was sacramental, and although many controversial subjects'" would be raised, the delegates would get their light through the Spirit of' God. Regarding spiritual healing, the Archbishop said he had been afraid that when people came together and failed to get that which they sought, they would sink back into greater despair, but lie bail realised that this was licit so, and while a man might not take up his bed and walk, lie would learn to look up to God ancl get groutci strength.
