ABOUT THE COW.
The New Devil’s first attempt at composition.—The cow is a mihull and kine-hoarted creature. Ihe man who looks after her is called a cowherd, hut for all that he is no coward. Cows exist by means of ox-ygen in the atmosphere. By the cow is the milk made. 1 know this to he true, for 1 have seen the miiknviid by the cow. The cow inis been introduced into song. There is an old sung called the ••Soldier’s S’tcer.’ r This was written in Beef Mat, as was also that very pathetic ballad, “For Heifer and Heifer.” To call a eov. yn ox is to make a hull. Crutches for cows are called acoustics. A cow likes resting. Tl will sleep in a shed and lie on the grass, but it will not stretch itself on a couch. A cow does not carry an argument verv obstinately. It will soon gn c whey. Cows seem to do pretty well, for event at death they make both endmeat. 1 can’t think how it is so many calves die young. Perhaps the butcher could re-vc.al the secret.
