AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. SHIPMENT OF SILVER STOPPED BERLIN, Afay 20. An attempt by the Banco l)a Beira to ship £60,000 worth of silver to Dolagoa was strongly resented by the townspeople as detrimental to tho countrv’s interests. A crowd cut the ropes ‘of a waiting lighter which grounded. The authorities summoned armed reinforcements, which would hold the wharf by force, pending another attempt to ship the silver which was allegedly consigned to Portugal.

Traub died oil the way to the hospital. Later in the evening sentries fired on a tram car which failed to slop when signalled to do so. Ihc car was disabled and two passengers were severely wounded.
