This senior game was timed to start at 1.3!) o'clock, but there was considerable delay before play commenced. I lie first spell was not of a vorv eventful nature. The Kiwi Learn had every opportunity to place their side in a winning position, but the backs failed badly to take advantage of numerous openings. and the attention of the Ivokatahi forwards npparenly was not to their liking, there being a disposition to get rid of the ball at any price. Stevens at full i ante out very well on the day's play, and was the only consistent playet on the side. Kokatahi’s forwards stood out well in the loose rushes, and took it lot of stopping, while O'Brien in tho backs showed to advantage right through the game. There was no score in the first half, and tho second spell had gone nearly half through belore a score came. The Kiwi team had been having the better of the plav. and some passing runs had just failed to have the desired effect, when the ball went out near the lino. [- rein the linenut. Dev,aney got poscssion and dodged ever, scoring a rather neat try, even if a lucky one. The attempt to eonwit was a disgraceful one for a senior learn. Knkatalii then livened tit), and tin 1 play went in their favor, their forwards having the heller o! it. The game went to the Kiwi quarters, and alter some tight s'-rums near tinline, there was a loose s:« ramhle from which Rail’d got possession and dropped over. Sparkcs. a recent arrival from Canterbury was entrusted with Hie kick and landed an excellent goal, placing Ivokatahi two points ahead. Ernm thence on for the remaining ten minute'' of play the ball travelled up and down the field, bur KokaValii held ;■ slight advantage to the end. and the whistle sounded no -id" wit It a victory for Ivokatahi by •> to 3. a result they deserved on the play.
